The Moldauhafenbrücke

First construction project in the new Grasbrook district takes shape
The northern part of the new Grasbrook urban development area, the so-called Moldauhafenquartier, forms a peninsula in the Norderelbe and is mainly surrounded by water. Bridges therefore play a central role as connecting routes, both for internal and external development. This includes the new Moldauhafenbrücke, which connects Moldauhafenquartier with Hafentorquartier and is protected from flooding and is primarily designed for pedestrian and cycle traffic. The design competition organized by HafenCity Hamburg GmbH in agreement with the Department of Urban Development and Housing was decided at the end of 2022. The winners were Schüßler-Plan Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH (Berlin) and DKFS Architects (London). Construction of Moldauhafenbrücke is due to start in 2027.
