From October 7 to 9, 2024, the international real estate industry will meet at EXPO REAL in Munich, one of the most important trade fairs for real estate and investment in Europe. Hamburg will be represented with a large joint stand of the Free and Hanseatic City, where 55 partner companies will present a wide range of real estate projects along the Elbe, Alster and Bille rivers.
This year, HafenCity Hamburg GmbH is once again a central partner of the joint stand and will be presenting its visionary urban development projects.

Pioneering projects and innovations from Hamburg
Karen Pein, Senator for Urban Development and Housing: "We will experience a very special Expo Real this year. Germany's construction and real estate industry is struggling massively with the current challenges, and we are currently feeling this in Hamburg in particular. Together with the largest and most important companies and players, we in the north are currently working intensively on solutions to make building more affordable again. One key approach is to reduce building standards, optimize planning and construction processes and speed up approval procedures. At the same time, we are designating building land, investing significantly in public infrastructure and thus continuing to offer the construction industry many investment opportunities. After all, Hamburg is and will remain one of the most attractive real estate locations in Germany and beyond thanks to its location and pioneering projects."
The presentations will focus on some of Hamburg's most forward-looking projects, including Grasbrook, HafenCity, Billebogen and Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld.
Dr. Andreas Kleinau, Chairman of the Management Board of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH: "As a driving force for the sustainable and liveable city of tomorrow, we are helping to shape Hamburg's development as a location for the future. In 2024, we were able to further sharpen the profile of Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld in particular. Science City is an outstanding location that will combine research, teaching and learning under the best conditions with living, working and leisure in a green district with short distances. We will be presenting this breakthrough as well as the milestones achieved for HafenCity, Billebogen and Grasbrook at the Hamburg stand and look forward to exchanging ideas."
New technologies and events at the Hamburg stand
In addition to the digital table of HafenCity Hamburg GmbH on their projects, the infrastructure of the Hamburg metropolitan region will also be presented on an interactive touch table this year. Visitors can find out about locations, commercial areas and transport connections.
The joint Hamburg stand will also be enriched by high-caliber events. On Monday, October 7, at 2 p.m., Senator Karen Pein and Federal Minister Klara Geywitz will discuss the Hamburg initiative for cost-reduced construction. Dr. Andreas Dressel will present innovative approaches to serial construction in the education sector at 4 pm. The second day of the fair, October 8, will start at 11 a.m. with the "Hamburg.HafenCity.Talk", in which Chief Building Director Franz-Josef Höing, Dr. Rolf Strittmatter and Dr. Andreas Kleinau will take part.
